Technical Communication Certificate: Advising
As a TCC student, you benefit from regular meetings with your TCC advisor and easy access to all
TC faculty. At your first meeting with your advisor, you work out a TCC curriculum most suitable
for your interests and career plans, as well as a
program plan that fits your
TCC courses into your course plan for your major.

Each semester, you meet with your adviser to assess your progress in the TCC, discuss any changes and
adjustments to your program plan, and plan ahead for your TC Internship and your portfolio.
The semester before you begin your TC Internship,
you meet with the Internship Director to discuss available internship options, your interests, and your
preparation for the internship. TCC's internship program provides opportunities in over 40
area companies, businesses, and agencies.
Every semester, the TCC kick-off meeting and other gatherings give you further opportunities to
meet with other students and faculty. In addition,
you can set up individual appointments at any time or communicate with email.
The semester of graduation, you meet with your advisor to review your DARS report and your portfolio. Also, at
that time, you will be invited to evaluate your experience with the TCC program. Your suggestions to improve
the program are always welcome.
